Man on the edge of pier

Imaam Ibn al-Qayyim said:

“Grief weakens the heart and determination, & hurts the will ; and nothing is more beloved to Shaytan than a sad believer”.

From his book Tareequl Hijratain

Ibn al-Qayyim – may Allah have mercy on him – said:

“In the same way that the affairs of the one who fears Allah are made easy, the affairs of the one who leaves off taqwa are made difficult.”

[ad-Daa wa Dawaa p. 87]

…like the vacant chambers of an empty heart

“Enough of a punishment for sins is that it prevents you from worshiping Allah even when you wanted to.”

Ibn Al Qayyim
[Al Daa’ page 87]

Still being patient

Ibn al-Qayyim quoted an earlier scholar of the salaf as saying, “Believers and disbelievers may both have patience in times of adversity, but only people of strong faith can have patience at a time of ease.”

Only for Allah
